Any NPFL player hoping to get the consideration of national team selectors, especially in the Super Eagles will need to put in extra work and consistency in their performance and focus without distractions from their clubs, according to Chief Coach , Salisu Yusuf.
Recently, Godwin Obaje, Chisom Egbuchulam and Ikechukwu Ezenwa were invited for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia. Though he admitted the door is always open to NPFL players, Yusuf believes the foreign based players will have an edge because they are mostly readily fit for high profile matches.
Speaking with footballlive.ng, Yusuf said club distractions often hindered training programmes with home based players; recalling the NPFL All-Stars Carranza World Tour earlier in the year and the logistic challenges with clubs.
