The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the Super Eagles’ 2-1 victory over the Chipolopolo of Zambia in the ongoing 2018 World Cup qualifier played in Ndola, Zambia yesterday.
Ohaa, who watched the match in his office in Abuja yesterday, said that the victory wouldn’t have been possible if President Buhari had not provided the bailout funds for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prosecute the match when the leadership complained of lack of funds to prosecute the match.
The funds released by the President covered the payment for the Arik Air flight, Protea Hotel accommodation in Ndola, Zambia and other important logistics relating to the match. Ohaa was full of gratitude for laying the soft landing for the Eagles’ well deserved victory in Ndola.
“The god of soccer was on the Eagles side and I believe that this is the time for our team to excel. My happiness is that the consciousness of the citizenry of this country has been awakened to support sport.
“If you could remember last week President Muhammadu Buhari ensured that money was approved for the prosecution of this match when the NFF could not raise money for the execution of this match.
“I know Mr. President watched the match and he would be fulfilled that we won the match. So I am using this opportunity to thank Mr. President while the Minister of Youths and Sports is in Ndola supervising the team, for supporting the sports and youths of this country”, Ohaa said.
