Heartland FC of Owerri chairman, Chibuzo Etuemena has explained why the Naze Millionaires accepted the verdict of the League Management Company (LMC) on the alleged botched Plateau United tie which confirmed their demotion to the lower league for the first time since they were formed in 1976.
In a brief chat, Etuemena noted that dragging the matter on might affect the chances and preparation of the team towards proper restructuring of the Owerri side ahead of future matches.
“We won’t appeal the LMC’s decision on Heartland. We have accepted our fate. My mission now is on how to ensure that the club is restructured for it’s return to the premier league as quickly as possible,” Etuemena said.
Heartland thus concluded the premier league season with 43 points from 36 matches. They placed 18th on the log and were relegated alongside Warri Wolves, Ikorodu United and Giwa FC.
