Nigeria student commits suicide over poor performance


– A 20-year old secondary student in Kwara state Moji Agboola has committed suicide because of her poor academic performance

– Moji took some poison after she failed to pass her SS1 promotion exam

A secondary school student Moji Agboola on Wednesday, October 12, committed suicide in Omu-Aran, Kwara State.

The 20-year old SS1 student, authorities said died at Adeyemo Hospital after complications due to poison she had taken.

She took the poison after she failed to pass her promotion exam.

Moji was said to have been rushed to the hospital by her mother Abigail about three weeks ago.

“It was the deceased’s sister who first gave us the clue to her sickness before she later confessed to the act at the hospital,” Abigaill said.

News agency of Nigeria reports that Mooji was initially taken to Christ Apostolic Church, Ori-Oke Irapada, along Omu-Aran-Ilofa Road for prayers and deliverance after the incident occurred.

However, the prophet in-charge of the church, Christopher Owolabi said a prayer team was quickly organized for the deceased before she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

But Iya Ayo, a middle-age trader in the area was also rushed to Omu-Aran General Hospital on Wednesday evening, for taking substance believed to be poison.

The mother of two, who lived around Orolodo area of the town, reportedly complained over her husband’s inability to offset their family’s debt arrears.

Meanwhile, a doctor at the hospital, who pleaded anonymity said Iya Ayo was already responding to treatment.

Recall that a 60-year-old man in Ughelli north local government area of Delta state also committed suicide on Tuesday, October 13 over his inability to feed and provide for his immediate family.

Okporo Arigo was said to have hung himself on a tree and left a note why he committed such act.
