Justice Abang has replaced Eyitayo Jegede the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s candidate for November 26 governorship election.
Sahara Reporters is reporting that Justice Abang has given a specific order that Jegede is replaced with Ibahim as PDP’s guber candidate in Ondo state governorship election.
The judge ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must relate with Ali Modu Sherrif faction of the party.
A source within INEC said they are studying the judgement, but stated that replacement of candidates elapsed on Thursday, October 13, adding that they are bound by the court judgement.
Recall that Jegede, the former commissioner for justice and attorney-general of Ondo state, on Monday, August 22, won the PDP primaries to be the party’s flag-bearer in the forthcoming governorship election.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) scored 760 votes to beat Saka Lawal, who scored only 22 votes.
The former commissioner is seen as Governor Mimiko’s anointed candidate.
